private browsing and public at same time

One feature of Chrome that I really like is that I can have a regular browser window opened and an incognito/private window opened at the same time. Or several windows of each.

With Firefox, if I switch to Private Browsing, not only do any previously opened tabs opened in that window vanish, but any other opened Firefox windows also vanish.

Sorry, AFAIK there is no work being done on separate process's for either windows (which many other browsers have now) or tabs (as Chrome now has). So, I doubt if Firefox is going to have a Private Browsing feature like that in the near future, if ever.

Chrome runs separate processes for every window / tab, whereas Firefox runs all windows and tabs in the same process and just started running specific plugins in a separate process to better deal with crashes those plugins are notorious for causing. You might lose the plugin due to it causing a crash, but you don't lose Firefox altogether.
