New install won't save tabs on exiting
I just installed a clean version of Firefox on my new MacBook Pro (no imported settings) and it won't let me save my tabs when I exit. Like I did on my PC.
I've set the preferences to "show my windows and tabs from last time" as well as "to warn me when closing multiple tabs". However, the option to "save & exit" is not available.
I have no add-ons installed.

In Firefox 3 you do not get the 'Save & Quit' pop-up dialog if you choose Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time".
If that option is selected then your pages will already be reopened the next time.
To get that pop-up dialog you have to select one of the other choices (Show my home page,Show a blank page).
You can reset the warn prefs on the about:config page via the right-click context menu.
- browser.tabs.warnOnClose , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
- browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
- browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
You can also check for problems with session restore.

Thanks for your reply, Corel.
I wasn't getting the "save and exit" with any of the settings. But I think I just figured out what's going on. If I hit the X key to close, the close dialogue box comes up, but if I select "command q" to quit, the "save and exit" dialogue box comes up instead. I'll have to remember to quit instead of close.
So now that I have that figured out, do you know how to automatically open a link into a new tab? I lost my post to you after clicking on a link.
