Firefox 5 no longer opens, but appears in Task Manager as a Process

more options

Win 7 32bit; Firefox 5; Bit Defender Total Security 2011

Firefox 5 worked initially following upgrade from Firefox 4. Now when I start it, it does NOT appear onscreen but "firefox.exe" appears as a Process in Task Manager.

Thunderbird does the same thing as Firefox. All other programs work normally.

The following programs were run: Registry Repair Wizard Bit Defender A/V Spyware Doctor 7 Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Trojan Remover 6.8.2

Uninstalled Firefox deleted Firefox folder in c:\Program Files deleted Mozilla folder in User\APPDATA\ROAMING

reinstalled FireFox 5 Bit Defender & Windows Firewalls - OFF same as above - will not start but appears in Task Manager...
