Check and make sure you are running the latest edition of Firefox. I was behind in updating Firefox and, once I did, that fixed the problem.
same with Firefox (IceWeasel v3.5.16) - Debian Squeeze 64bit - grease monkey 0.9.8

Same here. as of 0.9.8 greasemonkey stoppped working. Debian Squeeze 32bit. IceWeasel 3.5.16
I sent an e-mail to the greasemonkey dev-mailing-list as I'm not sure at all that here is the right place to hope for a solution..
you can see it here: http://groups.google.com/group/grease.../756a9127242f91fd
(you need to have a google account.. beurk.. to be able to sent a mail)
unfortunately, the solution they give isn't really a solution.. just to wait the new version of FF where it will be possible to install the v0.9.9 of greasemonkey.. :s
I don't think they'll fix that .
a solution is to remove that v0.9.8 and install the v0.9.7 (found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/?page=1#version-0.9.7)
everything's back to normal for me..
Edit: Error.. they fixed it.. I spoke too quickly. :) Thank you Arantius

Anyone experiencing this issue, for now, try this build of Greasemonkey: https://github.com/downloads/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/greasemonkey-0.9.8.1.xpi
