Using Firefox 8, passwords not being remembered even though remember passwords for sites is ticked, so maybe they are getting deleted? BUT can't check that because settings in the privacy tab is greyed out so wont allow to be opened ??

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history

  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

OK thanks - didn't realise, now I can check settings which show the passwords are not being deleted at every shutdown, but now they are being remembered, so looks like problem was the private browsing (don't know how it got set to private)

Thanks!

You're welcome

You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
