The 'remember password' pop-up disappeared after I cleared my history and I would like for it to come back. How can I get it to come back?

I cleared my history, and now I never get the option to 'remember passwords' through Firefox anymore. I liked the pop up option to remember passwords and it seems like its gone now.

When you cleared your history, did you also clear Site Preferences? You really do not want to do that because that wipes out any exceptions you have made to settings such as cookies, popups, images, etc. I would uncheck that checkbox in the Tools menu > Clear Recent History and in Options > Privacy > Settings next to 'Clear history when Firefox closes'.

To set up remembering passwords, that is in Options > Security.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode ("Never remember history").

  • Tools > Options > Privacy: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
