Problems uninstalling Mozilla Firefox
My firefox is corrupted. I have run anti-virus programs. I want to delete my current version and re-install the latest verion.
Remove for the control panel / add remove programs does not work.
I have also gone to the helper.exe file under C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe That brings up an emptly black DOS prompt box that flashes for about a second, then disappears. Nothing else happens.

Try doing the following:
Download Firefox 16.0.1 from www.getfirefox.com, then just install if over your current Firefox install. Restart your PC, then try to open Firefox. If you still are having trouble, describe it and I might be able to help you.
How do you know Firefox is corrupted? Can you start it up at all? To try starting in Firefox's safe mode, hold the shift key when double-clicking the Firefox icon. If that works, open
Help > Troubleshooting Information
and look for the Reset Firefox feature. This will generate a new settings folder and archive your old folder to the desktop. More info on this feature: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.
If you cannot start Firefox even in Safe Mode, try reinstalling Firefox over your existing installation to refresh the program files. You can download from:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop
Then try the above Safe Mode + Reset again.
I cannot uninstall Firefox either! When I click uninstall from the control panel nothing happens at all and Firefox remains!!! Highly upset about this. I do not want to try to fix it or to download another version of it I just want it gone !!!!!
Hi dionne1070, did you also try the "helper.exe" program? Depending on your system, it's usually one of these two places:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall
If you think it's possible that Firefox might still be running, make sure it is fully shut down. You can do that using the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) Processes tab. Look for firefox.exe and if you find it, select it and click End Process. Then try the uninstaller again.
Any luck?
Yes, I tried that also and made sure Firefox was not still running but did not work, firefox is still here and does not seem to want to go away...........
You can remove the Firefox installation program folder manually if the uninstaller isn't working.
ok cor-el i calmed down & read ur first link carefully. thx.
