Firefox crashes
since I upgraded to the latest version of firefox - 16.0.2 on my Mac, it crashes/hangs all the time and I get more unresponsive script alerts and the spinning beach ball of death from apple (this spinning wheel/ball is the sign of a crash/hang); and when firefox crashes/hangs I have to force quit and then restart the machine, because it also takes out the ability to work from different work spaces in mission control. I can’t move or navigate between work spaces.
Please advise.
This is MUCH worse since I put on the new update, but has been getting worse in recent updates.
I also notice a huge up spike in notices of an unresponsive script alert and sometimes that brings up the beach ball as well.
I do use firefox heavily and it has been good until the last 4-8 weeks or so, but I can’t continue to use it if it keeps getting worse. I always have 2 ff windows open with about 15 tabs each and this hasnt been a problem for about 10 months or so, since I moved on to the platform, but it is now a problem and I am having a hard time justifying the time I spend on this versus troubleshooting when I am not using it any differently or with any different sites than before - please help and follow up.
Thank you.

Do you mean that Firefox is crashing or hanging? Crashing is shutting down spontaneously. What you described sounds more like hanging.
Does it mention a chrome URL (chrome://) as the cause of the hangs?
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You can also check for problems caused by plugins.
No mostly hangs, not crashes. Often - right after or during unresponsive scripts and the spinning beach ball. No chrome errors.
Just want second smeyer15 - I have exactly the same problem and concerns. Spinning beach ball EVERY FEW SECONDS. None of the suggested fixes above have helped thus far.
