I just got a new computer with Windows 8 and a touch screen. I opened up Firefox and have found that the top of the browser, above the tabs, is pink-red and there are thin borders around the browser with the same color as well. Occasionally, it will go back to the original light blue color but then goes right back to the pink-red. I've not been able to find out what they are supposed to mean. Thanks!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features and can use such means to show that the browser is running in such a protected environment.
