It does when I drag an html file icon onto it. It works with Safari. How do I configure Firefox to allow the drop and have Firefox open the file? I've already configured the Mac so that it opens Firefox when I click on an xml file icon on the desktop.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting support, I was not able to reproduce the issue: Here is a screencast of what I did. http://www.screencast.com/t/UJiLTpup8K

Steps:

  1. Create an xml file
  2. Drag and drop it into the open Firefox

Note: I also tried this by dragging and dropping from Finder to the Firefox Icon in the doc, but was unsuccessful. Therefore, this looks like the work around: Firefox has to be open already.
