the close box(red X) should have an are you sure pop up before destructively closing ( i lost all of my stuff twice and I am not going back to get it!)

It this about the close X on a tab to close this tab?

You can hide these close buttons to prevent accidentally clicking them and middle-click a tab to close a tab by setting the browser.tabs.closeButtons pref to 2 or 3 on the about:config page.
