Offline, I write long texts using a plain text editor. I tap on the plain text file, select copy, open the the Motorola DroidX's stock browser, go to a forum, click on post a new thread or comment, tap on the screen and select paste. My long text is copied!

Yet, Firefox 29 cannot do this. Why not?

I'm using a newer version of Android, so this might explain it, but... when I long-press in a form field in Firefox, I do get the option to Paste.

Oh wait, I'm selecting and copying the text from the editor, not copying the file itself. Maybe that's the issue?

jscher2000, thanks for replying. You got it right. I need to copy the text from the plain text editor into a form field in firefox. I don't need to copy the file itself.

Since you can do this, is the problem Gingerbread or Motorola DroidX? Can anyone using Gingerbread or Motorola DroidX paste?

Firefox would function better if it had a toolbar and/or if the menu had more settings such as paste. The menu in the stock browser and in Firefox function fine. Its the taping, long pressing and some add-ons that either never work or cease working. Firefox needs both a toolbar and more settings in menu.

Is the problem that no long-press menu appears or that Paste is missing from the menu?

I tried to test on my old Gingerbread device, but I was reminded why I had to get a new device: I dropped the old one on its head too many times and it is unusable.

Fireside does not bring up a long press menu but the stock browser does.
