Often when I go to a website and they offer a link to email them, I click the link and it starts opening multiple tabs (thousands) which locks-up my computer. If I force quit and reopen Firefox it will just take me back to the multi-tabs again, and I'm unable to go further. I am on a Macintosh computer (iMac) version 10.9.4 Maverick. Help please! You get tabs opening endlessly if you select the Firefox program to handle a file when you get an "Open with" dialog.

You will have to remove this choice.

You can rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
