My computer crashed and required a "clean install" of the OS. My data was ok but lost all registry stuff. I re-installed Thunderbird (& Lightning) and started using the program. I use the "-p" switch to load the old or the new profiles but can't see a way to migrate the messages from the old to the new. Can it be done? I have several years of important messages which I need. Thanks!!!

I assume you have new messages in your new profile which you don't want to lose, or you would just use your old one.

There is an add-on to TB which allows import and export of emails in various formats to a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.). What you could do is export the email from you old profile to a disk and then using the new profile import the email. Use a format which can be imported (as described in ImportExportTools).

The instructions on how to download and install it can be found at http://barryduggan.info/exportMail.php
