I'm using an android phone and can access the PDF files I downloaded using Firefox but how do I delete PDF files I no longer want to keep?

By default, Firefox stores downloads in your device's standard Download(s) folder. So here is what I suggest:

(1) Delete from within Firefox: menu > Tools > Downloads > long press > Delete

(2) Check the system Downloads app to make sure it was physically removed there as well and, if not, remove it using that app

To confirm the interaction, you might open the system Downloads app first, check that the PDF is there, then delete from within Firefox and when you return to the Downloads app, it should be gone.
