As i stated before in a previous question some time ago, which i did not receive an answer. Is this change to Thunderbird on a list of things to do? Yes or No

If no please advise as I will need to change my email program to one that supports Extended MAPI.

Best regards Gerry

You have only one other question on this site. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997366 which was asked on the 30th April 2014 and answered 3 hours latter.

So here we are with the same question 18 months latter.

As Microsoft have deprecated EMAPI and have not even shipped it with recent Windows versions. Thunderbird will not be supporting this legacy windows API.

Thunderbird is mapi compliant and Toad-hall linked you to information on that last year.

If you are asking about a specific product such as the MYOB product you refered to in your previous posting, your asking in the wrong place. You need to be asking at MYOB. Where they will tell you they only test with Microsoft office outlook and support nothing else. A cursory look at their support forum will make it clear that other mail clients work and work well but when they do not work MYOB just walks away.

re :As i stated before in a previous question some time ago, which i did not receive an answer. I responded ages ago within 4 hours of you posting the question. You should have received an email. However, you could check your questions for responses at any time just by accessing your Profile, which is precisely what I checked when I saw your question.

Thunderbird already uses MAPI .

Extended MAPI is something Microsoft developed for it's own Outlook to make native calls to it's own Microsoft Exchange server. So, Microsoft have developed it for their own purposes and limited the access to force people to purchase their products. However.....

The normal way to use Thunderbird with a Microsoft Exchange Server requires the admin to enable the POP/IMAP/SMTP mail servers that are bundled with that server. So the answer is yes you can get access, but the people/admin who are managing the server need to enable the POP/IMAP/SMTP which they can do quite easily if they can be bothered. http://kb.mozillazine.org/MAPI_Support

As an aid here is link to original question asked back on 30th April. that question has now been closed, but the info is still accessible. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997366
