Thunderbird stopped displaying any images provided as part of an incoming emails about a year ago. I get a blank rectangle instead. I have no trouble viewing the complete email using other browsers (Ipad). I do receive .jpeg images received as attachments with no problem...

Try Restarting the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- Often such problems are caused by anti virus programs. Trying safe mode will answer that question as the part of the anti virus programs that causes issues of this sort is not loaded in safe mode.
