When I create an event in Thunderbird calendar, I cannot copy the event and paste it to another day. It used to work.

I am using a desktop PC with Windows installed. I am using Thunderbird 38.3.0 with Lightning calendar add on installed. After I create an event I right-click and choose "Copy" from the menu. When I choose another date I cannot "Paste" the event to that date. The "Paste" action is not available (greyed out). The Ctrl-c/Ctrl-v combo does not work either.

I have used this in the past and I am not sure why it is not longer working.

In the list of calendars displayed in calendar tab which of your calendars is selected and is it marked read-only? (with a lock icon) Lightning pastes into selected calendar, if it's unavailable (say momentarily) or read-only paste is not allowed.

OK, I don't see that. There is no lock icon that I can see. However a read-only state did not occur to me. So I checked all the menus and noticed under edit there is Calendar Properties... In that popup menu there is a box marked read-only and it was checked. I unchecked it and now the copy/paste function works again. It might have been set during one of the updates. Thanks for tweaking my mind to that idea.

It's not entirely the case though as I had all my calendars set without read-only mode but can't copy and paste events nevertheless. But after I clicked through all calendars properties (as you referred to do) and clicked OK there, the issue resolved.
