shift key ALWAYS opens web developer tools pane - debugger and style editor
i cannot use the shift key without Firefox 44.0.2 opening developer tools style editor. i had this problem in firefox 43 also. i tried to disable the console in about:config but it doesn't help at all.

Did you try to reboot the computer in case restarting Firefox doesn't help?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
I suppose you have ruled out that it is a keyboard fault such as a stuck F7 key ?
