Get a new window by slightly dragging the tab in the Firefox window to move the tab to a new window. You can also drag a tab from the Tab bar of one window to the tab bar of another window.

You can hold down the Shift key and left-click a link to open the link in a new window.
You can hold down the Ctrl key and right-click a link or middle-click the link to open the link in a new tab.

For links opened via JavaScript you can look at this pref:

Sadly, I don't think you understand the problem. You think I want tabs. I do not. I want a new window.

I want to get rid of the tabs. I can't find any way to get rid of tabs.

I like windows, not tabs. I am sorry that you do not understand.

Hi CassandraofTroy, I think your request is clear.

What is causing the new tab to open? For example, are you clicking a link in a page that normally (in other browsers) opens a new window, and Firefox is diverting it to a new tab?

You can turn that off in the tab options here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

On the lower part of the page, uncheck the box for "Open new windows in a new tab instead"

If you are getting unwanted new tabs in other circumstances, could you describe what you're doing just before the tab opens?

To explain the earlier replies:

The first reply explains how to "tear off" a tab into a separate window once it does open -- click and drag it off the tab bar. You also can right-click the tab and > Move to New Window.

The second reply is an alternate way to change the preference set by unchecking the box I described earlier. Such changes are made in the about:config preferences editor.

Hi, you can do this in the settings.

click the 3 bars in the right corner click option click genial scroll down under tabs click "Open new windows in a new tab instead" now it should be unchecked. hoped this helped you solve your problem! Have a good browsing Experience!
