retrieve disappeared sent messages
My sent messages have largely disappeared. I see only very recent sent messages and one very old message. All others have disappeared. How can I retrieve them? Many thanks

You may not be able to recover the disappeared messages though.
is there no way?. How does this happen?
I will have to change to a different email. Losing messages is incredibly disturbing and I'm losing confidence in Thunderbird.
Are the sent messages managed by Thunderbird or stored on a server?
If you don't understand where or how your messages are stored, and what retention policies are in place, and given that you are presumably not making backups, then it's quite possible it will happen again with any other email client.
