TBird only displays emails if from a contact. Unchecking CONTACTS does not fix the problem
Recently TBIRD seems to move incoming emails to trash if not from a contact, with or without the CONTACTS flag is checked. I can't locate any flag anywhere that will let it display ALL emails until I delete or move them.

contact tag? What is this?
What mail provider? Is your account IAMP or pop? Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
