The email passwords are not saved. For each account, I get the box asking for the password. In this box, there should be a check box "Save password", but its missing. I tried deleting "cert8.db" and "key3.db", but that did not correct the problem. I thought that there should be a way to enter passwords manually, but can't find it, if it exists.

Are you using some software such as CCleaner that could be interfering with your Thunderbird setup with regard to privacy? Check to see if such features are disabled in that software.

Also, try opening the Config Editor in the (Thunderbird) Options > Advanced panel > General tab, accept the warning and look for the preference signon.rememberSignons. This should not display in bold and the value should be set to true by default (double-click it if set to false.)

Thanks, I found the problem with your help. I'm running a password manager called STICKY PASSWORDS. Removing Thunderbird from it fixed my problem.
