I am on a business related email list that receives up to 100 emails per day. Until a few days ago, the individual sender always showed up in the From, or Correspondent's, column. Now, it only displays the display name for the email list provider, instead of the original sender. This issue is not present on gmail, nor my webmail client, nor MS Outlook.

What changed was the email list, not Thunderbird, but it brought up this issue that I've found the cause for, but don't know how to fix it.

It seems that Thunderbird is using the "Reply-To" field to determine the sender. This, of course, is not how it should be. The standard would be to display the "From" field of the email headers.

Anyone know if this can be changed? I could not find anything in settings. Thanks. Brett

Does this occur if you restart Thunderbird in 'Safe Mode' ? 'Help' > 'Restart with addons disabled'

Try resetting columns to default. click on far right header column 'select columns to display' icon and select 'Reset Columns to Default'

Thanks for the responses Toad.

Starting in safe mode - no change Resetting columns - no change.

The issue is how T'bird interprets the sender. They are, in a nutshell, doing it wrong. Using the reply-to address as the sender is just dumb. There are many, many instances when the reply-to will be different from the sender.

If anyone knows of a setting that can be changed to resolve this, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks.

Report potential bugs here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?

Give info on OS, version of thunderbird and explain the issue.

This add-on is useful for showing the sender's email address, but I don't know if it's a way of avoiding the display of the Reply-to address.
