I'm downloading a lot of large files (few gigabytes), some of them download at 6-10mb/s, while others will download at less that 200kb/s, and never speed up. That means that some of the files will download in a few minutes while others will take hours.

I'm on Windows 10 64-bit and Firefox Quantum 57.0, but I don't really think that matters. Is there a way to fix this?

It's probably site related and traffic on those sites if there's to many people downloading from it-it will slow down. There only so much bandwidth it can share.

Use a Download manager. Means need to Right Click and copy URL location and past into the program. iGetter is very good but old, does the kob though. See IDM here : https://bitport.io/integrations-plugins-tips

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.
