I have been sending email with a gmail account for several weeks in Thunderbird. Now out going mail is not working. None of the settings have been changed. SSL is set to "no" and port is 587 getting this message now:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable Failure sending mail. Try again later.

Please check the message recipient "sample@xxx" and try again

that change didn't work. But the outgoing email just started working by itself. So I'm wondering if there was a temporary problem with mail's outging server?

SSL is set to "no"

There is no such setting.

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.

under security and authentication the connection security is set to "none" instead of selecting SSL/TLS

Try to set 'connection security' to 'STARTTLS'.

is there a limit to the number of outgoing emails you can send everyday using Thunderbird with Mail.com as the outgoing server? It seems the problem starts after sending a few emails everyday.

The limit is your provider as stated in your other thread. I found several posts on other forums complaining about the mail.com 5 per day limit.
