When my husband went in the hospital, he set his Thunderbird email up with mobile.charter.net on his laptop. He passed away while in the hospital. Now when I try to access his email, it asks me to sign in with the password for his email address at mobile.charter.net This is not his regular email password that I sign in with at my Spectrum/Charter billing account. I can't change my Spectrum/Charter account until I can access his emails without going through their website. Spectrum/Charter said that they can't help me, but sent me the mobile settings, which I don't understand. (IMAP port, etc) I am not very computer literate. Can anyone help me access his email through Thunderbird like it used to be?

If he told Thunderbird to remember the password you can see what was saved by going to... Options-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords Click Show Passwords.

The actual email password is administered with your email provider which sounds like it is Charter. You will have to work with them to actually change the password for this email account. If the first person you talk to at the provider will not help, as for a supervisor.

Do I have to be in Thunderbird to do the above? Options-Security-Passwords, etc? There are no options available if I open his email the only way I know how- at Spectrum/Charter.net

Thunderbird , yes.

Thank you, but I can't get to his account in Thunderbird. I will take your suggestion and try a supervisor at Spectrum/Charter.

There is no such thing as a Thunderbird account. It is email client software. You click the Thunderbird icon and the software opens. Is that not happening for you? Did he create a Thunderbird Master Password? If so you would be met with a message about entering the Password for the Software Security Device but Thunderbird would still open.

Yes, Thunderbird still opens, but there are no emails since before he went in the hospital. It says to enter the mobile.charter.net password, which I don't have. I will take this up with a Spectrum/Charter Supervisor. Thank you!

Then none of this has anything to do with Thunderbird. It is between you and the email provider.
