Recently I have been getting a popup message when I delete mail. I do not understand why. I assume when I delete email and put out the trash, the message is deleted from disk permanently - at least former versions of Thunderbird worked that way. I am using the POP server pop.gmail.com on my tower. (I also access the same mail on my Chromebook - but do not save mail on that machine.) The message I am getting is: "The messages you have deleted can be purged from disk. This operation will save about 1.6 GB of disk space. Select the option below to let Thunderbird do this automatically without asking you.

Check to Remove message deletions automatically and do not ask me." My wife checked this to stop the popup and now is sorry she did, and she does not know how to reverse her action. Can you help?

Why is she sorry?

I also see this annoying popup prompt frequently when I delete OR just move messages.

I empty my Trash folder when I want to...I have settings for moving old messages in my various folders to Trash, and I manage my mail this way.

I do NOT want Thunderbird to automatically permanently delete messages for me!

How can I get rid of this popup message that must closed before I can do anything else, and be sure that Thunderbird will NOT permanently delete my messages except when I empty my Trash folder?

This is something new, and very annoying!
