How to get rid of Searchitnow hack?
How do i get rid of the searchitnow scam fake hack on Firefox?
All the many links online to info on how to fix it is the same and none of it works. So it must all be part of the scam. Fucking horseshit. Can I say that?
Can someone tell me how to get rid of it in an actual human non fake way?

You may have ad/mal-ware.
Further information can be found in this article;

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
So... You definitely know of cases where your suggestion has solved this specific problem? It seems VERY VAGUE and BIZARRELY exactly like dozens of other links/posts about this problem. I suggest that this advice HAS NEVER HELPED ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM! State otherwise if you KNOW it otherwise. Otherwise, heck, delete your comment?
Hi Jeff, where is this showing up? For example:
- Takes over as home page at startup and in new window (Command+N)
- Takes over as new tab page (Command+T)
- Takes over as default search -- listed on the Search panel of the Preferences page (Change your default search settings in Firefox)
- Hijacks search results from the default engine (for example, Google) after the query is submitted
Cleaning up Add-ons
For most of these scenarios, the problem usually is caused by an add-on, but external malware also is a possibility. You didn't share your extensions list while posting your question, so here's how to check for problem extensions on your Firefox:
Open the Add-ons page. Either:
- Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. On the right side, find the "Manage Your Extensions" heading.
If there is at least one extension before the next heading -- "Recommended Extensions" -- please continue:
Then cast a critical eye over the list below that heading. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything that mentions search, or privacy, or looks suspicious, or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove). For your privacy and security, don't let mystery programs linger here.
Any improvement?
If your Add-ons page is blank or is blocked, you can restart Firefox in its Safe Mode to do the above review:
In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to bypass issues that can cause problems with pages.
If Firefox is running:
You can restart Firefox in Safe/Troubleshoot Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
- (menu bar) Help menu > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
and OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).
If Firefox is not running:
Hold down the option/alt key when starting Firefox. (On Windows, hold down the Shift key instead of the option/alt key.) A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).
Note: Don't use the Refresh without first reviewing this article to understand what will be deleted: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.
Can you regain control of your searches?
This is also vague. IS THIS SPECIFIC HACK SOLVED BY A DOZEN WAYS? I DOUBT IT! This advice is coming from someone who has NEVER BEEN INVOLVED WITH A SOLUTION OF A SEARCHITNOW HACK!!!! How do I know??? BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CLAIM IT!!! THEY ONLY GIVE A BUNCH OF ALL PURPOSE CURES. TRY AGAIN!!! LET'S ONLY HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS FIXED THIS SPECIFIC HACK! Say you've fixed it or do not say anything! I do not want to hear any general malware removal advice! NO! STOP! Describe this infection and if you give more than one cure describe the times your multiple fixes have worked. Etc. UNDERSTAND????
Mouthing off will not help with your problem.
We have offered you good advice and instructions. Have you checked out any of them?

You are the one with eyes and hands on your computer, not us. We can tell you where to look so you can clean your system. If there's a step missing in getting to your add-ons and cleaning them, tell me what I missed. If you reviewed the list and don't know which one is causing the problem, you can share the list with us for further advice. If you do not have the patience, that is what the Refresh feature is for: to flush your custom settings and add-ons to start clean.

Correct, I have not been infected by this malware. It seems to target Mac users for some reason, and I run Windows. If you want advice from someone who works on Mac's, why not try Apple's forums?
