How can I remove the Spaces Menu button in the upper left corner? it has suddenly appeared there and, as a result, everything is shifted to the right, including the search box and the search box results, which are mostly hidden.

All I can suggest is to remove it: View>Toolbars> untick Spaces toolbar.
I don't mean the Spaces "Toolbar." I mean the Spaces "Menu" that appears in the upper left corner. It looks like a button, but when you click on it the Spaces Toolbar appears. I don't want that button there. Thanks.
I have already unchecked the Spaces toolbar.
This can be done with a simple addition to a userChrome.css file.
