Hi,

I am using Firefox (v111.0) on a Mac, and I can't seem to get the keyboard shortcut (shift+command+p) to open a private window to work. Things that I've tried:

  • going to menu, and manually clicking New Private Window -> will successfully open a new private window
  • opening firefox in safe more to see if any of my extensions are affecting the keyboard shortcut -> shortcut still doesn't work
  • other keyboard shortcuts such as command+P, shift+command+A, etc. all work.

What keyboard shortcut shows in the File menu for New Private Window?

Are you possibly running Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History) as in that case you might have to use "Command+N" to open a new (PB) window as in PB mode you only can open only PB mode windows ?

Thanks for the suggestions.

In the file menu, the shortcut indicates Shift+Command+P should open a new private window

I am not running Firefox in permanent Private Browsing window. Command+N opens a regular browser window, whereas opening a New Private Window from the menu opens a new private window.
