I have been downloading a couple files from rapidshare, and in the download windows, Firefox says it is downloading around 300kbs, but I counted out the seconds it took for it to increase by 1mb, and it is actually downloading around 50kbs. I do not know if this is just with rapidshare, or if it is true about other places, but I do know I can download at 300kbs for true.

That is probably the difference between kilobits and kilobytes per second.

Unless Firefox displays download speed in bits instead of bytes, which would be ludicrous, it is not. I counted average of 20sec for 1mb. That is .05mb a second, so 50kb.
