Downloaded Flash 10.1, works fine in MS Explorer but Firefox 3.6.13 contimues to try to run Flash 6
I am using Firefox 3.6.13. When I loaded pages with flash objects I get a message telling me I need to upgrade to Adobe flash 10.1. So I did but I still get the message telling me I need to upgrade the Flash. When I right click on the flash object, it tells me I'm using Flash 6 witch I would imagine is still somewhere on my computer. When I run MS Explorer it will use the Adobe Flash 10.1 so I know it downloaded and installed properly. I need to get Firefox to find and use the 10.1 instead of the 6 The question is...... How do I do that?

Your list of plugins shows 2 versions of Flash. You should be able to delete the old version by deleting the following 2 files (the second may not exist)
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\NPSWF32.dll
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\flashplayer.xpt
Nether of the files seem to exist
I just seen you have 3 versions of Flash listed in your plugins.
Do a search of your computer for a file named NPSWF32.dll, it is quite normal for there to be multiple copies. The Flash 10.1 version should be stored at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
For other versions, right-click on the NPSWF32.dll file and select Properties. In the Properties dialog select the version tab, that should list the version of the plugin. If you have any with a version of 6.0.79 or 7.0.14 (or something similar to those version numbers), can you post back with the location of those files.

Ignore my last post, I just thought of an easier way to locate those files. First you need to check a hidden preference, and probably change its value.
- Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
- Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
- Locate the preference plugin.expose_full_path, if it is set to false double-click on it to change its value to true
Now type about:plugins into the location bar, this will show all installed plugins, it should tell you the location of the Flash versions 6.0 and 7.0. To stop Firefox using those old plugins you can rename the two old versions of NPSWF32.dll to old-NPSWF32.dll
Thank you ToneE. That worked.
You're welcome
