I restarted my ststem and now all my bookmarks are missing.
I did not install any add ons and I looked at the other options for restoring bookmarks, but none of them worked. the drop down box that shows websites that I frequent is also empty. I've lost a lot of bookmarks and I'm a bit upset about it.

First, you may want to make a backup of your profile folder. It contains (or should contain!) your bookmark database and a folder of backups. To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information. (You can copy the entire profile folder somewhere outside the Mozilla folder.)

I got through. I ended up having to delete the Places database file. Thanks for your help.
