I get the following ONLY with FF & have not been able to find the answer! I've tried also resetting the "no proxy". Please help! Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Request header field is missing ':' separator.

the message as shown above only happens with FF - IE is ok & only with some sites. The sites I get this message are sites I use all the time so don't understand what suddenly happened!

The Firefox data like cache (see the about:cache page for the location and usage) and cookies and other personal data is completely separated from other browsers.

With such issues we always first advice to clear the cache and cookies.
It is also possible that your firewall is interfering with the HTTP headers and you may need to check that also if clearing cache and cookies didn't help.
Also Firefox extensions can cause problems.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

i saw these standard pieces of advice when i first started searching for help! This was the first thing I did....indeed I "cleaned" the entire computer, as I do every week. I believe the problem is NOT with certain websites but with FF....just seems that no-one will admit it???

In my totally amateur opinion I have to ask: If it's a cache problem, why isn't IE similarly affected?

Hi cor-el, just to say thank you for pointing me in the right direction :) After running around the houses for a while I finally got the ff troubleshoot about "hardware accelerator" .....that was it! Once disabled everything is back as it should be lol I'm happy cos I just hate IE & M'soft lolol
