I get this message also even though I never heard of this addon, didn't install it, and don't want it. Where did it come from, and how can I stop addons from automatically installing themselves?

I had this problem and it seemed to spread through firefox sync to all of my systems. I searched for cookies containing the phrase fnv and deleted them. Problem solved.

A little digging uncovered the culprit. I use aboutblank as my home page. Several times over the past few months, when I'd launch FF, the aboutblank opens but in another tab (as if it were a popunder action) this fnvfox.com page opens. I immediately close it before anything (much) loads.

This time I checked NoScripts and saw under "Recently Blocked Sites" these two - fnvfox.appspot.com and fnvfox.com

Googling FNV.com shows that they have a downloader add-on for FF and that rang a faint bell, so I checked my add-ons and sure enough, there was Flash and Video Download 1.10 by Download Flash and Video... and at the bottom of that page, for the downloader HOMEPAGE it lists none other than www.fnvfox.com

So, it seems FNV.com is using the same stunt Noscript pulls of creating a "popunder" secondary tab for an unsolicited ad at random intervals. I don't approve of the tactic, but I'm not crying foul now that I know what's going on.
