Often firefox goes into an endless loop when i try to go to a website other than my home which is google news. I cant shut down firefox and I must force close the computer. When the computer is restarted firefox is still in that loop.

When the computer is restarted Firefox is still in that loop. i have Firefox 8 and my mac system is OS 10.6.8

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.
