Why is Firefox v9.0.1 (Mac) telling me that I am NOT on the latest version of Firefox?

I've been on Firefox v9.0.1 since its release but set my default Home Page to the default Home Page of prior Firefox versions, which gives me access to my entire Google portal.

Now, every time I open my default Home Page, I get a message below the Firefox Start window, stating:

"You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!"

Why is this happening? I didn't think the default Home Page was version-specific.

To be fair, I can't say with certainty that this wasn't the case with earlier version iterations after v3.6. But I hadn't noticed until tonight.

I am seeing the same thing as you are. Its probably because that earlier Google homepage was used in earlier Firefox versions. So the page thinks that you are still using a previous version of Firefox.

Change the homepage to the following address:

Check and tell if its working.

Google hard coded that information into that page within the last month or so. It shows that "update today" message for every version that goes to that specific web page.
