Sounds that you open those search results in the sidebar.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).


Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected.

I just downloaded the new version and this started happening.. In the google search bar I type anything in and it give me the list of websites it normally would but instead of landscape view and covering the entire screen. I get 1 column on the extreme left that is search, images, maps etc and just beside that is my results in a seperate column.. The rest of the screen is white.. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with bookmarks but I am no expert..

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

Switched to google chrome.. Works great :).. I liked Mozilla for years but the new version always seemed to give me issues.. So I kept using the old version but now it seems to ask me everytime I use it to upgrade to the new version.. So bye bye Firefox, chrome installed and worked perfect.
