Ctrl-F to search for text now scrolls the page so the found word is roughly in the middle of the screen. It should either not scroll at all, or scroll only just enough so the found word is at the very bottom or the top of the page.

This is a new change I think in Firefox 12/13. I hate this behavior. I've been searching for a way to revert it to no avail. Does anyone know how to change it?

That is currently not possible, so far I haven't seen any extensions to undo this change.

This change is the consequence of this bug fix.

  • bug 171237 - Find in Page: highlighted result should be at the middle of the page (vertically centered) instead of last line/bottom of page

(please do not comment in bug reports)

That's crazy. With the new behavior, you have to manually scan with your eyes over the middle 1/2 a page looking for the found word. Scrolling when it doesn't even need to scroll is even worse. It throws me off.

So Firefox 14 should bring an about:config option for it? I guess I am going to have to wait.

I can't find any option for it in the about:config settings. Any ideas if it can be changed yet in Firefox 14?
