Under about:config, my browser.download.lastDir keeps changing to C:\ from C:\Users\MyUsername\Downloads.

When I try to "Save Image As" a picture, it keeps trying to save it to C:\ as the default. I have set it multiple times to C:\Users\MyUsername\Downloads. Every time I close and reopen Firefox, the browser.download.lastDir setting is changed to C:\ again.

Default saved setting is C:\Users\MyUsername\Downloads It seems like having the option to clear my browsing/download history changes this.

Simply closing and opening Firefox will not reset this for me. However, if I save a picture, then close and reopen Firefox, the lastDir gets changed.

I'm guessing that it has something to do with the user.js file or about:config page. It might be changing the default save location after you are save something. Did you try resetting Firefox? That should solve your problem.

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Try this before and after resetting: In about:config - Set the value of browser. download. defaultFolder to the path you want the files to be saved in (C:\Users\MyUsername\Downloads).

If the problem still persists after doing a Reset and changing the browser. download. defaultFolder value, can you please put up a screenshot of the following values from the about:config page before and after this happens?

  1. browser. download. defaultFolder
  2. browser. download. dir
  3. browser. download. downloadDir
  4. browser. download. folderList

That might help us to dig deeper in the problem.

Cheers!
