firefox cannot find servers but ie and chrome do. help?

On Vista Laptop and XP Desktop Firefox v29 and v30 load but cannot find any website, they show server not found. ie As if internet not connected. Chrome and IE both find the connections when loaded side by side with Firefox. Help before I am forced to switch away from FF. An IPad also see's the websites under these conditions. On pressing the trouble shooting "A window will open in the top corner." I get a windows message saying windows cannot open this file!
