Why do new tabs always open my aol home page?

Every time I click to open a new tab to go to a new url, my aol home page opens. I have to delete that url and type in the url I want. I've checked all my settings and can't figure out how to get the new tab to open in a search engine with the address line blank, instead of the aol home page.

In about:config search for newtab change browser.newtab.url: http://www.aol.com............... to browser.newtab.url: about:blank

that will give you a blank page
