Moving multiple emails using imap causing emails to disappear

more options

I have an IMAP email account set up in Thunderbird. When I drag and drop multiple emails to move them to a different folder, only some of them actually move to that folder (none of these are local folder, they are all email folders on the server). The rest just disappear. They are not in Trash or the original folder or the new folder. I log into my email account directly on the server using webmail and the emails have disappeared from the server as well except for the ones that moved successfully. I have repaired the folder in Thunderbird but nothing changes. I find it bizarre that the problem is replicated on the email server and not just in Thunderbird. Has anyone experienced this problem before? I am using Thunderbird 24.6.0. Any help would be appreciated.
