When I download files it saves it as a foxfire doc and when I try to open it it saves it again and I can't open it but it saves over and over. This happens with all files.

What kind of files do you expect them to actually be? It could be that the file extension is not being added correctly and therefore Windows is not associating them with the usual application.

For example, if you downloaded a PDF document but it doesn't have a .pdf extension, then you might not have the option to open it directly in Adobe Acrobat/Adobe Reader.

To rename a file, you can use the small folder icon on the right side of a download (on the downloads list) to launch a Windows Explorer window with the downloaded file selected. Then you can right-click > Rename with the appropriate file extension.

Please note that Windows (by default) will hide some file extensions. In order to rename files accurately, I suggest setting Windows to show all extensions. This article has the steps for that: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

Does that help at all?
