Hi kimiekitamura, Sorry that is not meant to happen. The refresh process is expected to retain bookmarks and History as explained in this article:
Something must have gone wrong. The Firefox refresh makes changes to the Firefox profile. In doing this Firefox refresh should make a copy of the profile and place it on the Windows Desktop.
Are you able to find this folder ? It will have a name such as old profile
You also need to find the location of the new profile that Firefox Refresh has created. The easiest method of doing that is using a button on the Troubleshooting Information page.
- Full instructons: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data_how-do-i-find-my-profile
You need Firefox open to do that, but close Firefox after you find the profile folder.
Now you know where the profile folders and files are you need to look for the file that is the database of History & Bookmarks it is a file called places.sqlite
- Rename the one in the current profile to places.sqlite.empty
- Find the one in the old folder on the desktop. Copy that and move it to the new profile.
- Restart Firefox, it should now have it's bookmarks and history back again.
- See also Recover important data from an old profile_bookmarks-downloads-and-browsing-history
Please post back to say how you get on and whether you need any furtherh help.
Thank you john99!! I was trying what you told me and my pc got really slow again. When I started to fix again somehow everything back to normal. I think something back to connect to all items finally. If it happens again and couldn't fix it, I'll try what you suggested for me. Thanks again!
Thanks for posting back. Glad it works again.
My last post explained how to try to recover the history and bookmarks database if it was lost in a faulty Refresh.
You may wish to backup your bookmarks,or even the profile. That may help if you ever lose the information again, as even an old backup is better than no backup. See
