How (or can I) do I get a word count in Thunderbird like I could in Outlook?

I would like to be able to highlight a section of an e-mail (either incoming or outgoing) and get a word count. I could do this in Outlook, but cannot find a way to do it using Thunderbird.

it works for composed messages if you install mailtweak. Download it here. If you get an error during installation, you may need to first install this add-on.
