Change browser.newtab.url is not working
Hello,
Installed some crapware today and got trovi.com as the default page when I open a new tab. This makes me insanely angry. What's even worse, it changed the browser.newtab.url and when I removed it's config it STILL is loading the same page.
I tried to enter a new config, it doesn't work.
I tried to install this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/developers - doesn't work.
Please help me. Do I have to reinstall the browser? Why can't I change the value?!
I am on firefox version 42.

Hi, please try working through Remove Trovi from Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer by Malware Tips.
Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.
After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.
Further info for reference about the New Tab page: For security reasons, from Firefox 41, you need to use an add-on like New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.
Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.
Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.
You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.
