Is it possible to have thunderbird automatically store all the attachment as files in a specific folder? I mean like The Bat and Eudora do?

I often need to find an old attachment maybe a pdf or a word file. When this happen, it is quite impossible to me to find the related mail that contain the attachment. It is very easy, instead, to search for it directly in a proper folder containing all the attachments. The Bat client, for instance, allow you to chose if put the attachments in a specific folder or not. With thunderbird, under tools>options>attachments there is an option that seems to address, in part, the issue. But it is not clear how to add file types or to apply the saving to all the incoming attachments automatically.

I think the FiltaQuilla addon provides a filter action to automatically detach and store attachments. I haven't used it myself and so can't comment on its usefulness. I think that even when you have detached an attachment, it will retain a record of that attachment having been there. This can be confusing when going back to your mailstore to look for messages with attachments.

Fundamentally, Thunderbird has a hands-off philosophy. Messages are stored verbatim, with no tampering. It doesn't separate headers from bodies as MS email products do, and it doesn't remove attachments. This is valuable in cases where you need to provide evidence for forensic investigations.

Thankyou , Zenos I installed FiltaQuilla at office and in my home system. At home it works but often thunderbird crash (If I apply the filter to detach all the attachments of a folder , it detaches some files then thunderbird crash). At office it simply does not work. It does nothing. Hoever I am searching for similar extensions regards Federico
