Firefox doesn't keep fixed my start page, but often presents it's own start page.
Since two weeks I have a new computer and installed Firefox as my standard browser. As on my old pc I had a special starting page installed, from a trusted party. The FF instance on my new pc doesn't keep this page fixed. Sometimes yes, but mostly not - even when I open FF after not restarting my PC. FF presents in those situations its own start page + an invitation to make an account, to syngronise with other devices and so on. How do I get rid of this unasked and unwanted pages and how do I get a sustainable installation of MY start page?

Hi, Firefox is able to open multiple home pages with the URLs separated by a 'pipe' (|), so please see - How to set the home page, and in 'Home Page,' make sure that in addition to your home page URL, there isn't anything else - if there is, just delete it. (The Firefox start page is about:home but you may set a different one).
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!
As soon as I can present you an example of the problem I'll send it. With regards.
There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
As promised, hereby the two pages that Firefox presents to me. I'm using this version since about three weeks, activated my account, synchronised with my lap top and still I receive this "first run" page and the FF starting page, however I installed another starting page (no pipeline, no other unwanted provider or search machine) using the Extra/options button and so on. Why does FF not hold MY startpage and treats me as I'm a firts time user (in stead of the more then 10 years I used FF)?

I have a similar problem with Firefox 53.0.3 on two Windows 7 64 but machines since yesterday. Suddenly the details of my start page in oprions, general under Firefox starts: show your start page, disappeared without warning. I tried to find out why but didn't find a clue. Now it happens again and again. Very frustrating because it didn't happen before. Can somebody help me?
Hi LCKip, at least as a work around, it could help you to switch off the synchronisation option.
Since I did so, I had no more problems with the starting page.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not using sync and have no accounts and connected devices. I do not see an option to switch off sync. Have read some documentation which say there should be an option 'manage' in the upper right of the sync screen but that option is not there. Any ideas?
Sorry, here it stops for me ;-(
I understand and don't blame you. I'll wait till somebody jumps in.
